It does exactly what it promises to do! December 20, 2008 David A. Aviles (Houston Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't have no negatives towards this product. If you want a real review of this product read the specifications sheet everything it says it does is a hundred percent accurate period.
Highly functional, adapts to your specific needs. December 17, 2008 T. Gloersen 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just finished my install on the SC1000..It works exactly as described in the literature. I called customer support with a question and a technician called me right back. As far as the dialer discussion goes....If you have the SC1000 you dont have to register all of the sensors to the dialer seperately! You can if you want to, but you dont have too (I certainly would not reccomend this). You can simply follow the instructions and link the control panel to the dialer. Using this arrangement, the dialer will not dial unless the control panel actually goes into full alarm. As mentioned before, if the control panel does sound, and the dialer starts to dial, you must shut off the dialer seperately from the controller, but only if the alarm sounded. I like this..let the bad guys smash the control panel, and let the dialer somewhere else in the house do it's thing! This relay arrangment also allows you to hide the dialer in a closet or somewhere out of the way where it can silently dial out to whomever. Overall I give the system an A for functionality, and allowing itself to adapt to each installers/homeowners specific security needs. Each zone can be modified to work a different way...nice! I would consider getting a secondary siren just so if the bad guys kill the control panel the remote siren keeps blasting away! Worth the 160 I paid.
Pretty good for the price. December 16, 2008 Carrie B. (Maryland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System is definitely a good value for the price. After our home was broken into, my family and I were looking for some peace of mind but without a lot of service fees. We purchased some additional door/window sensors (the kit comes with 4) and installed the entire system in one weekend. Testing and calibrating each sensor and the motion detector individually takes some time, but it's worth it. My only complaint is with the auto caller. We have had some trouble getting it installed on our old home phone system. Also, you can only program it to dial 911 or other emergency services if you have their permission. In this respect it might be better to have a monitored system, despite the monthly price tag.
Unsatisfied November 28, 2008 George (USA, Canada) 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
The Skylink Sc 1000 worked fine, however, the accompanying sensors did not work properly. They either failed to link with the command module or they operated when I moved them in a certain angle. Setup was attempted twice with the same results.
Good price but one major flaw November 27, 2008 Kay Hayes (San Jose, CA USA) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
We bought this system to monitor our travel trailer while parked outside of our house during a remodel. We have 110v to the trailor so the system doesn't have to run from it's own batteries all of the time. The door sensors and motion detector are easy to mount, even in a trailer. Programming the base key pad is a snap and the remote control is great. With the remote, I don't really ever use the key pad. The alarm is painfully (literally) loud when it goes off. The system even has entry delays and one can program all of the input devices to a selected zone - delayed or instant. My one complaint - the dialer functionality. The concept of the dialer is great. It will call your phone when the alarm goes off. The draw back is you have to turn it off and on seperately from the rest of the system. It does not "talk" with the remote or the keypad. Also, It will dial when anything is tripped, even when the system is not armed. It will dial if the system is set to monitor only the doors but the motion detector is activated (the "at home" setting). The only solution is to keep the dialer off when anything could be tripped and only turn it on when you leave. Also, if we arm the system for the doors only and one of the dogs activates the motion detector while we are gone...guess what. We get dialed. That is so annoying. The only work around is to hide the motion detector when we are gone. UPDATE: After reading some truely helpful comments to the above review, I have reprogrammed the system and deleted all of the sensors except the main control panel from the dialer and that has solved the excessive calls. Now, my suggestion would be to clarify the instructions - which provide directions for registering the sensors before registering the panel. I am a very step by step person and I just followed the directions not realizing registering a device was optional and what impact that would have on the system as a whole.
