Outstanding July 1, 2008 Ron Chicot (St. Lucia, Caribbean) I must say i am really impressed with this product. I'm a police man and i find this light to be really handy and useful, and the light is just great and bright. This minimag can really throw a bright beam a good distance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Solid maglite construction, disappointing LED June 30, 2008 Natman It's a maglite, so you know you're getting a solidly-constructed flashlight. What I was expecting was a maglite that was much brighter and whiter than the traditionally-bulbed ones I already own. I was disappointed in this regard: the LED is not as bright as I expected, and the beam focusing ability was much less than I am used to for a maglite. It's a decent flashlight--just don't expect it to be that much better than the original ones. If you don't own a maglite already, you might want to get the LED version. If you already have one, though, I wouldn't bother replacing it with the LED.
A big disappointment June 16, 2008 D. Kuhns (Omaha, NE USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am what some might call a flashlight abuser. I work as a professional auto mechanic, and I use a flashlight every day. Many times a day, in fact. And guess what, I drop it on the floor occasionally. In my experience, this routine is too demanding for 95% of the flashlights out there. I could spend 8o bucks on some "ultimate" flashlight, but I never will because it would undoubtedly get lost within a week. I have found that the regular, under ten bucks, krypton-bulb Mini Maglite is up to the task, however. While the bulbs need to be changed frequently, I have never had to replace a Maglite entirely, except when I lost one. For this reason, I thought I would give the LED version a try after I misplaced my regular flashlight, to try to save some energy. I was pleasantly surprised at the brightness of the LED bulb. Its focus is not adjustable, but the light it produces is bright enough that this is not really a necessity. I wish the flashlight came in brighter colors, because misplacement is a big concern for me. I really can't fathom why there are so many black flashlights on the market. I guess maybe people think they look cool or something. I have tried LED flashlights and bicycle headlights in the past and have found that they have a major flaw-the electronics are quite succeptible to routine shocks such as a 3-foot drop. And, of course, the electronic guts are the most expensive and hard to replace part of the lamp. Unfortunately, the LED Maglite is no exception. My flashlight started to cut out intermittently within a few weeks after I bought it. It is now entirely dead after maybe two months. I thought the Maglite would be a cut above the usual LED light, and I was wrong. Oh well, I guess I'll find some other way to save the planet.
Impressive! May 30, 2008 Chris Vanhonk (Shacklefords, VA) I bought this light mostly for work use, but I use it at home too. It has typical Maglite quality and a very useful holster. Some of the reviewers don't like the fact that the holster has no velcro cover. I like this. The light slides in snugly and had easy access when I need it. The biggest plus is the fantastic beam. I've had some of the multi bulb lights that others make, but this one is the best I've used. - Tough - Powerful - Portable - Perfect
Well made LED flashlight May 4, 2008 P. Falcioni (Central Oregon, United States) We've owned a few cheap-o LED mini flashlights, but thought it would be smart to have a higher quality item with our camping tools, so I purchased this one. This mini MagLite LED is perfect! It out-shines our other 3 LED lights, has a focus option for the beam (very helpful!), an all-metal housing, and the quality feel you get with all MagLite products. I'm so please with this light, I'm ordering a couple more to replace the ones we keep in our gloveboxes.
