I just ordered my 4th GunVault. I bought three for my own use over the years and one as a gift for my father so he could secure his Beretta pistol. I purchased my first one probably 20 years ago and it was everything that I had hoped for. I was able to lock up my pistols and ammo, along with my cash, credit cards, wallet, and other valuables while still retaining quick access in case of emergency. I had small children at the time and having my weapons inaccessible to them was a major relief. The best feature is the "No Eyes" code access that lets you punch in your access code in the middle of the night, in the dark, and have the door spring open within a few seconds after hopping out of bed. If someone breaks into my house, I will have enough time to get my pistols out without having to turn on the lights or fumbling for a key. When seconds count, the GunVault is the only choice. There have been more than a few times when my wife would wake me up because she thought she heard something in the middle of the night. I was always able to jump out of bed and have gun in hand within 5 seconds, in the dark. Unfortunately, in my experience the product lasts an average of about 7 years. I have never had a battery issue, even though I open mine numerous times each day. I have changed the battery once or twice during the average seven year life span. When the unit eventually fails, instead of the door springing open after entering your code, all you hear is a "whirring" sound, which means that the internal cable release mechanism has broken. GunVault no longer performs repairs either which makes no sense to me, but for the price, I think it is definitely worth it for around seven years of lightning fast access to my firearms.

I just wish it was a bit bigger. My hand keeps bumping the shelf in the middle. Otherwise it performs exactly as advertised.

This is an excellent safe. As in some other reviews the door would only open with the key. I had to bend the catch as it was binding and the electric lock was not able to overcome the bind. After a minor bending operation, the door now flies open with the touch pad. Does seem manufacturer should test in factory or send instructions and a bending tool. Good value for the money.

The vault in my opinion is great but the mere fact that it requires 8 batteries is a real negative point for me.
I thought I was buying the one w the DC power out.
Otherwise I'd give it all 5 stars...
